Shyam Srinivasan
Shyam Srinivasan (born 2 February 1962 in Trivandrum, Kerala) is an Indian banker and former managing director and CEO of Federal Bank, one of India's leading private banks. He holds a BE from Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli (now NIT Tiruchirappalli) and a PGDM from IIM Calcutta, along with a Leadership Development Program at London Business School.
Over more than 30 years, he has worked with multinational banks in India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, focusing on retail lending, cards, wealth management and SME banking. He has held roles at WIPRO, Citibank and Standard Chartered, including VP & COO of consumer banking at Citibank and country head of consumer banking at Standard Chartered.
Srinivasan became MD and CEO of Federal Bank on 23 September 2010, with a goal to modernize the bank and expand its reach digitally. Under his leadership, the bank advanced its digitization, network and underwriting, and expanded geographically. Federal Bank also expanded its CSR efforts, launching the Federal Skill Academy to improve employability and the Speak For India platform to support young thinkers. The bank supported a women-led nationwide motorbike expedition, aided COVID-19 relief, and organized Sanjeevani, India’s largest vaccination awareness drive with Network 18. The workforce became younger and more diverse, with women making up about 43%.
In March 2025, Srinivasan joined TVS Capital Funds as a senior advisor and operating partner. Later in 2025, he was named Expert Panel Advisor to ICICI Prudential for his banking and governance experience. In October 2025, he was appointed a member of the RBI’s Advisory Group on Regulation, supporting the Regulatory Review Cell in reviewing regulations and engaging with stakeholders.
