Aeriscardovia aeriphila
Aeriscardovia aeriphila is a bacterium in the phylum Actinomycetota. It belongs to the genus Aeriscardovia, described by Simpson and colleagues in 2004, and is part of the family Bifidobacteriaceae. The species name aeriphila means “air-loving.” The name Aeriscardovia combines aer (air) with Scardovia, honoring Italian microbiologist Vittorio Scardovi and noting similarities to Scardovia that can grow in air. The binomial name is Aeriscardovia aeriphila. Type strains include DSM 22365, JCM 15959, LMG 21773, and NCIMB 13939.
