Clinofibrate
Clinofibrate is a prescription drug in the fibrate family used to treat high cholesterol and related conditions. It is sold in Japan under the brand Lipoclin.
Chemically, clinofibrate is a derivative of bisphenol Z. Bisphenol Z is made by linking cyclohexanone and phenol. The final drug is produced from this intermediate through a Bargellini-type reaction using chloroform and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) in base.
