Sheffield Outer Ring Road

Sheffield Outer Ring Road is one of two main routes that circle around Sheffield, England, staying mainly around the city centre and its suburbs. It forms a partial ring, starting near Bradway in the southeast and running west and north to the Hillsborough area.

The road starts in Bradway as B6054 Bradway Road, then becomes Greenhill Parkway and Bochum Parkway, passing through Norton and Gleadless Townend. It continues as Norton Avenue and Ridgeway Road, then becomes Prince of Wales Road as it goes through the Manor and Wybourn areas, near landmarks like the Advanced Manufacturing Park and the Sheffield Arena. It meets the A57 Sheffield Parkway close to the M1 at Junction 34 (Tinsley Viaduct) and some people regard its end as Attercliffe Common, while others see Janson Street and Hawke Street as part of the ring.

From there, the ring road heads west through Grimesthorpe (as Upwell Street, Owler Lane and Rushby Street) and past the Northern General Hospital area, continuing as Herries Road to Penistone Road in Hillsborough, where it ends. There is no western section today because of the terrain, even though a full circuit was once planned. There have been ideas to complete the western side, possibly routing through Stannington, Ringinglow and Ecclesall Road South to Abbey Lane and Chesterfield Road to ease congestion in the southwest.
