128th Ohio Infantry Regiment
128th Ohio Infantry Regiment (128th OVI) was a Union Army infantry unit in the Civil War. It organized in Columbus and Johnson’s Island, Ohio, and served for three years under Colonel Charles W. Hill. Companies A–E formed in 1862; the rest, F–K, followed in late 1863 to early 1864. The regiment moved to Sandusky in January 1864 and guarded Sandusky and Johnson’s Island on Sandusky Bay until July 1865. Some soldiers served on detached duty in West Virginia. They moved to Camp Chase on July 10, 1865, and mustered out on July 17, 1865. The regiment lost 64 men, 1 officer and 63 enlisted, all from disease.
