Barcaldine, Argyll
Barcaldine, Gaelic Am Barra Calltainn, is a small village in Argyll, Scotland. It sits on the shore of Loch Creran, between Oban and Ballachulish, and centers around Barcaldine House. The village once had a railway station. Barcaldine Castle is a few kilometres to the west; it was built in the 15th century by Sir Douglas Campbell of Glenorchy. The Barcaldine House Hotel is also in the area. The Australian town of Barcaldine in western Queensland was named after Barcaldine in Argyll.
