Sharpnose worm eel
The sharpnose worm eel (Scolecenchelys acutirostris) is a small tropical eel in the worm/snake eel family Ophichthidae. It was described in 1916 by Max Weber and Lieven de Beaufort, originally placed in the genus Muraenichthys. This species is found in the western Pacific Ocean, around Indonesia, where it lives in sandy areas near reefs. Males grow up to about 10 centimeters in length (roughly 3.9 inches).
