Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park
Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park is a marine-themed amusement park in Nanhui New City, Pudong, Shanghai, China. It opened on November 16, 2018 and is owned and run by Haichang Ocean Park Holdings. The park covers about 29.7 hectares (73 acres) and operates year-round. It has nine attractions, including two roller coasters and one water ride.
The park is split into two zones: a tundra area with a snowy mountain and a tropical area with a volcano. A gondola lift and two bridges connect the zones over a canal. The flagship attractions include a launch roller coaster, a river rapids ride, and a killer whale show and exhibit. It is Haichang’s second theme park in China.
Development details: Work on the park began in 2012. Early plans placed it on the east side of Dishui Lake, and Haichang hired three design firms—Romero VanRell Jeng and Associates, FORREC, and Legacy Entertainment—to draft different designs. Legacy Entertainment’s design was chosen and later adapted for the park’s final location on the west side of Dishui Lake. Groundbreaking was on March 29, 2015, and trial operations started October 1, 2018.
