2007 Winter Universiade
XXIII Winter Universiade — Turin 2007
The 23rd Winter Universiade was held in Turin, Italy, from January 17 to January 27, 2007. About 55 nations participated, with 18 medal events across 12 winter sports.
The opening ceremony at Palasport Olimpico featured a show of acrobats, dancers and music. Magda Gomes, titled the "Princess of the Snow," welcomed the world to the Games. The event was officially opened by Giovanna Capellano Nebiolo and George Killian, and the Flame of Knowledge was lit by Livio Berruti to start the Games. The slogan “Crazy 4 U” was announced by Arturo Brachetti.
The main venue was Palasport Olimpico, and the Games ran until January 27, 2007.
