The Visitation

The Visitation is a four-episode Doctor Who story from 1982, featuring the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) with his companions Nyssa, Tegan, and Adric. Set in 17th-century London near Pudding Lane, the adventure centers on a group of alien invaders called the Terileptils who plan to make Earth their home by spreading a deadly plague.

Plot
- The TARDIS lands in London during the late 1600s. The Doctor and his companions soon encounter Richard Mace, a highwayman and actor who helps them.
- They learn that a meteor-like object has landed nearby, which is actually a Terileptil spaceship. The Terileptils use mind-controlling bracelets to subdue locals.
- In a nearby manor, the Doctor discovers a cellar full of rats and a device that releases soliton gas. The Terileptil leader and two helpers attempt to weaponize infected rats to devastate humanity and seize Earth.
- The Doctor locates the Terileptils in London and confronts them. The Terileptil weapon overloads and explodes, triggering a fire that destroys the building.
- Richard Mace stays behind to fight the blaze as the Doctor and the others escape in the TARDIS. The building blaze becomes part of the historical Great Fire of London, which begins at Pudding Lane.
- The sonic screwdriver is destroyed in this story, a notable moment in Doctor Who history.
