Max Duffy
Max Duffy (born 11 April 1993) is an Australian former football player who switched from Australian rules football to American football as a punter. He started his career with Fremantle in the AFL, playing 3 games and kicking 3 goals between 2013 and 2015. He grew up in Perth, attended Kent Street Senior High School, and originally played basketball. After not making a state squad, he began playing Australian rules football with East Fremantle in the WAFL and was drafted by Fremantle with pick 39 in the 2012 AFL Draft. His AFL career was hampered by shoulder and hamstring injuries; he debuted in round 20, 2014 against Geelong, kicking a goal with his first kick. He was delisted after 2015 and spent 2016 with West Perth.
In 2017 Duffy announced a switch to American football to become a punter. He joined the Kentucky Wildcats as their punter in December 2017 and quickly rose as one of the top punters in college football. He won the Ray Guy Award in 2019 as the nation's top punter, earned Unanimous All-American honors, and was named First-team All-SEC in 2019 and Second-team All-SEC in 2020. He was regarded as a top punting prospect and posted a NCAA-leading 98.30 GPR Punt Rating in 2019.
Duffy was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2021 CFL Global Draft (4th round, 30th overall). He signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in May 2021 but was waived in June. In March 2022 he was selected by the Pittsburgh Maulers of the United States Football League.
