Judea is a suburb of Tauranga in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty region, on State Highway 2 just east of Bethlehem. It began as a European fortified settlement in 1864 during the New Zealand Wars, with the Judea Redoubt (also called India Rebout or Huria Redoubt) as one of Tauranga’s three forts.
