Seva Gunitsky
Seva Gunitsky is an American political scientist and associate professor of political science at the University of Toronto. His research explores how global forces and international politics shape democracy and domestic politics. He wrote Aftershocks: Great Powers and Domestic Reforms in the Twentieth Century, which looks at how shocks in the international system influence regime types, and Foreign Affairs named it one of the best books of 2017. He has contributed to The Washington Post, Foreign Affairs, and The New Republic, and he frequently comments on Russian politics and foreign policy. Gunitsky was born in Leningrad, Soviet Union, and moved to the United States at age 10 around the time of the August Putsch, later relearning Russian after immigration.
