Scott R. Nein (April 13, 1951 – August 19, 2023) was a Republican politician from Ohio. Born in Middletown, he attended Bowling Green State University. Encouraged by John Boehner, Nein ran for the Ohio House of Representatives in 1990 and won the 58th district seat, serving from 1991 to 1995 and becoming majority floor leader in his third term. In 1995, when State Senator Barry Levey resigned, Nein was appointed to the Ohio Senate for the 4th district and left the House the same day. He won a full term in 1996 and was re-elected in 2000, serving in the Senate until 2004. After leaving office, he became CEO of the Ohio Association of Insurance Agents / Independent Insurance Agents of Ohio. He had four children: Jason, Beckett, Brody, and Courtney.
