Dataset Inc., formerly Scalyr, is a private enterprise software company based in San Mateo, California. Founded in 2011 by Steve Newman—the creator of Writely, which became Google Docs—Scalyr built a real-time, centralized platform for server monitoring, log management, visualization and analysis that can connect with cloud services. Christine Heckart serves as CEO. The company raised a $2.1 million seed round in 2015 led by Susa Ventures, with investors including Bloomberg Beta, Google Ventures, Sherpalo Ventures and Othman Laraki. In February 2021, SentinelOne acquired Scalyr for about $155 million in cash and stock.
