Salome Lang
Salome Lang is a Swiss high jumper from Basel, born on 18 November 1997. She began athletics at age six and switched to high jump in 2011 with coach Alan Wisslé. Lang won her first Swiss title at 16 in 2014, clearing 1.83 m, and later had calf surgery in 2015. She set the Swiss U20 indoor record of 1.87 m in 2016, winning another Swiss title, and finished seventh at the World U20 Championships the same year. In 2017 she placed fourth at the European U23 Championships with 1.86 m. Lang set the Swiss indoor record of 1.94 m in 2020, ranking among the world's best that year, and on 20 June 2021 jumped 1.96 m to set the outdoor Swiss record and qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, where she cleared 1.86 m and did not reach the final. She also competed at the 2024 European Championships in Rome, finishing with 1.81 m. Lang studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen and trained with hurdler Jason Joseph and fencer Laura Stähli before Tokyo.
