Abdi Jeylani Malaq Marshale (c. 1969 – 31 July 2012) was a popular Somali comedian and media worker. Born in Mogadishu, he worked for Kulmiye Radio and Universal TV, making satirical sketches about militants and the government. He belonged to Somalia’s Bantu minority.

In 2011 he was threatened by the Al-Shabaab group and had to hide for several days in Somaliland.

On 31 July 2012, two gunmen shot him as he left Kulmiye Radio in Mogadishu. He died from head and chest wounds at Medina hospital. Hundreds attended his funeral.

His killing was one of many attacks on Somali journalists in 2012. Amnesty International and other organizations condemned the violence and called for investigations and accountability.
