SS Zachary Taylor was a Liberty ship built in the United States during World War II. Named after Zachary Taylor, the 12th U.S. president, it was laid down on October 6, 1941, by Permanente Metals at the Richmond Yard #2 in Richmond, California, and launched on February 28, 1942. The ship was about 441 feet long and 56 feet wide, with a deadweight capacity of about 7,000 tons and cargo capacity of about 9,140 tons, traveling at around 11 knots. After the war, it was scrapped in 1961. The Zachary Taylor also helped move displaced European immigrants to New York, docking at the Brooklyn Army Terminal on September 19, 1949.
