S. K. Vasanthan (born 17 November 1935) is an Indian writer, historian and academic from Kerala. He has written essays, novels, short stories, history of Kerala and translations. He has won major awards including the Ezhuthachan Puraskaram and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Awards for Scholarly Literature and for Overall Contributions. He was born in Edappally, in present-day Ernakulam district, to Karunakara Menon and Saraswathi Amma. He did post graduate studies in Malayalam and English and earned a PhD from the University of Kerala. He taught for 35 years at Kalady Sreesankara College and at Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University. He also served as assistant editor at the Kerala Language Institute and was a member of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi and of several university boards. His novel Ente Gramam, Ente Janatha (My Village, My People) won first prize in a Chinta Publishers competition; his second novel Arakkillam was published in parts in Mathrubhumi. He currently lives in Kuriachira, Thrissur district.
