São Pedro Atlético Clube
São Pedro Atlético Clube is a Brazilian multi-sports club from São Pedro da Aldeia in Rio de Janeiro. It was founded on May 16, 2011, and is nicknamed Camarão.
The club’s first big event was a friendly match on June 29, Saint Peter’s Day, at Waldemar Tadio Stadium. The match featured well-known players from Brazilian football and Valdir Bigode as the first coach. The city’s mayor at the time promised support to build a strong squad. São Pedro then began playing professionally in the 2012 Campeonato Carioca Série C (now called Serie B1).
In the early years, the team changed coaches several times. Valdir Bigode started, then Yan led the team. They finished first in their group during both phases of the season but were eliminated in the third phase after a goalless final round with Paduano. The next season, Gilson Gênio took charge; they reached the playoffs, beating Mangaratibense 2-0 in the first leg and needing only a draw away, but lost 2-1 in Mangaratiba in normal time. The match went to penalties, and Mangaratibense won. After this, Gilson Gênio left the club.
In 2014, São Pedro finished 8th in Série C. President Robson Maciel talked about the possibility of a professional license but cited a lack of resources and no formal agreement with the city hall. Despite the crisis, the club planned to play in 2015, but two weeks before the start it had no squad or leadership. The first scheduled game against Juventus was postponed, and the club later withdrew from the championship, losing all matches by walkover.
Since then, São Pedro Atlético Clube has not competed in official competitions. It was disaffiliated from the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation (FERJ) in November 2017 due to inactivity for more than two years.
