Evaristo Beccalossi
Evaristo Beccalossi (born 12 May 1956) is a former Italian footballer who played mainly as a midfielder. He began his career with his hometown club Brescia in 1972, before moving to Inter Milan in 1978. At Inter he played 216 league games and scored 30 goals, helping the club win the Serie A title in 1979–80 and the Coppa Italia in 1981–82. Beccalossi formed a famous attacking partnership with Alessandro Altobelli and often wore the number 10 shirt.
In 1984 he joined Sampdoria for a season, winning another Coppa Italia and helping Sampdoria finish fourth in Serie A. He later played for Monza, Brescia again, Barletta, Pordenone, and Breno, ending his career in 1991. Internationally, he represented Italy at youth level (U21 and Olympic) but never played for the senior squad; he was famously left out of the 1982 World Cup-winning team by coach Enzo Bearzot.
Known as Il Genio (the genius) and Driblossi for his dribbling and creativity, Beccalossi was a quick, left-footed playmaker who could also operate as a second striker. He was two-footed and capable with either foot, though he relied mainly on his left. After retiring, he worked as a pundit.
