The 1918 Southern Maori by-election was held on 21 February 1918 during the 19th New Zealand Parliament. It was held because the sitting member, Taare Parata, had died on 8 January. Hopere Uru won the by-election. He stood as an Independent but supported the Reform Party. The other candidate, Henare Parata, was described as the National Government nominee and was Taare Parata’s brother.
