Rotalia Island is a small, rocky island off the north coast of Nelson Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It is about 310 meters long (southeast to northwest) and 250 meters wide (southwest to northeast). The coordinates are 62°14′18″S, 59°05′24″W. The island is uninhabited and part of the Antarctic Treaty System. It was named after the Bulgarian fishing trawler Rotalia, from the Ocean Fisheries – Burgas fleet, which operated in Antarctic waters from 1970 to the early 1990s; Bulgarian fishermen, along with Soviet, Polish, and East German crews, are considered pioneers of modern Antarctic fishing. Rotalia Island lies about 2.06 km west-southwest of Cariz Point, 530 meters north of Meana Point, 1.2 kilometers northeast of Baklan Point, and 2.2 kilometers east of Withem Island. British mapping of the area was completed in 1968.
