Butter Wood
Butter Wood is a 133-hectare (330-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) located east of Basingstoke in Hampshire. It was notified in 1986. Much of the area is deciduous woodland with varied geology and structure, mostly former wood pasture with many glades and broad bridleways. There are several coppice-with-standards copses. Part of Up Nately Local Nature Reserve lies within the SSSI. The site supports a rich range of Lepidoptera, including about 25 species of butterfly.
