The Aero Commander 685, also known as the Rockwell Commander 685, is a small two‑engine piston aircraft with a pressurized cabin. Built by Aero Commander, a division of Rockwell International, it was the piston-powered version of the turboprop Rockwell Commander 690. The plane has a high wing, a nine‑seat cabin, and retractable tricycle landing gear. It is powered by two 435 hp Continental GTSIO‑520K piston engines mounted on the wings with three‑blade Hartzell propellers. It first flew in 1971, was FAA certified on September 17, 1971, and production ran until 1976, with 66 aircraft built. The ICAO code is AC6L. The 685 was followed by the Aero Commander JetProp series.
