German submarine U-1227 was a Type IXC/40 U-boat used by Nazi Germany’s Kriegsmarine in World War II. Built at the Deutsche Werft shipyard in Hamburg, it was laid down on 1 February 1943, launched on 18 September 1943, and commissioned on 8 December 1943 under Oberleutnant zur See Friedrich Altmeier. It served with the 31st U-boat Flotilla for training, then with the 2nd U-boat Flotilla from 1 August to 31 December 1944, and with the 33rd U-boat Flotilla from 1 January to 10 April 1945. U-1227 went on one combat patrol from 14 September to 26 December 1944.

On 4 October 1944 it attempted to attack a convoy at night and torpedoed the Canadian escort HMCS Chebogue, which was sunk; U-1227 escaped. The boat was damaged at Kiel during a British bombing raid on 9 April 1945 and was decommissioned the next day. It was scuttled to avoid capture on 3 May 1945 and was later raised and broken up.
