Sumika, stylized as sumika, is a Japanese rock band from Kawasaki, Kanagawa. They formed in May 2013 as an indie group and later signed with Sony Music Entertainment Japan in 2018. The band is also known as Sumika [camp session] during live shows, where non-musicians such as filmmakers, photographers, and poets join in performances.

The name Sumika comes from the Japanese word sumika, meaning “residence” or “home,” reflecting the idea that the band is their own space.

Original members were Kenta Kataoka, Junnosuke Kuroda, and Tomoyuki Arai. Takayuki Ogawa joined in 2015. They released their first mini-album Shinsekai Orichalcum in 2013, followed by I Co Y in 2014 (reaching No. 59 on the Oricon weekly charts) and Vital Apartment in 2015 (reaching No. 32).

In 2016 they released the single Lovers / Dengon Uta, the mini-album Answer Parade, and the EP Sally. Their first full-length album Familia came out in 2017 and peaked at No. 5 on the Oricon weekly charts, staying on the chart for 41 weeks.

In 2018 Sumika joined Sony Music Entertainment Japan. They released the EP Fiction, with the title track used as the opening theme for the anime Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku. They followed with the single Fanfare / Shunkashuutou in August 2018; the two songs were used in the anime film I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, and the band members also performed voice roles in the film.

On February 24, 2023, it was announced that guitarist Junnosuke Kuroda had died the day before, at age 34.
