Rivière aux Outardes Est
Rivière aux Outardes Est (East Outardes River) is a small river that crosses the Canada–United States border. It starts in Clinton County, New York, from a small forest lake just south of the border. From there it runs 28.7 km (17.8 miles) to meet the Rivière aux Outardes near Ormstown in Quebec. The source is about 40 meters above sea level, and the river drops roughly 270 meters along its course. It flows through a mix of farmland and forest, including small islets, before entering the Rivière aux Outardes on its south bank. The waters then travel about 6.4 km with the Outardes, then into the Châteauguay River, and finally reach the Saint-Lawrence River. The East Outardes River freezes in winter, usually from mid-December to the end of March, with safe ice travel from late December to early March. Its name was officially adopted on December 5, 1968 by the Quebec place names commission.
