Imboden is a small city in Lawrence County, Arkansas, United States. It sits on the south side of the Spring River and covers about one square mile. The population was 640 in 2020 and about 638 in 2024.

The town was settled around 1828 and incorporated in 1887. It’s named after the Imboden family. In 1912, Joe Sullivan was elected mayor at age 21, making him the youngest mayor in the United States at the time; he used a goat-drawn cart because he was paralyzed and left town in 1914 to study.

Imboden has two public schools: Sloan-Hendrix School, started in 1899 as Sloan-Hendrix Academy (a private school linked to Hendrix College) and later became public; and Imboden Area Charter School, opened in 2002 as an open-enrollment charter school.

Geographically, Imboden is located at about 36.2017°N, 91.18°W. Across the Spring River to the north is Randolph County. In October 2008, a modern boat launch with a 20-by-210-foot parking area opened.

The town is also building the Imboden Disaster Facility, part of the Regional Center for Disaster Preparedness Education at Arkansas State University.
