Shimosone Station
Shimosone Station (下曽根駅) is a JR Kyushu railway station in Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It lies on the Nippō Main Line, 11.6 kilometers from Kokura. The station has one island platform served by an elevated station building and is staffed. The station code is JF06.
History: It opened on 25 October 1895 as Sone Station on the Kyushu Railway. The line was nationalized in 1907. It was renamed Shimosone on 1 May 1945. On 4 May 1946, an explosion at the nearby former Imperial Japanese Army Air Service Fukuoka HQ destroyed the station. The current station building was completed in 1981. After the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station came under JR Kyushu.
Passenger usage: In fiscal year 2020, an average of 5,339 passengers boarded daily.
