Richard D. Martin (July 14, 1932 – March 8, 2008) was an American football coach and college athletics administrator. Born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, he played football at Ottawa University in 1951–1952 and later coached high school teams in Kansas. He became a college coach at Rose Polytechnic Institute (now Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology) in Terre Haute, Indiana (1964–1967) and at Washington University in St. Louis (1968–1971), finishing with a career college record of 24–43–3. Martin later served as athletic director at West Virginia University (1978–1981) and as commissioner of the Missouri Valley Conference (1981–1985). His teams won conference titles in 1965 (Prairie) and 1970 (CAC). He passed away in 2008 at age 75.
