Reynaldo Vera González-Quevedo
Reynaldo Vera González-Quevedo (born 7 January 1961 in Unión de Reyes, Cuba) is a Cuban chess grandmaster. He earned the International Master title in 1979 and became a Grandmaster in 1988. His peak rating was 2584 in July 2000.
He is a two-time Cuban Chess Championship winner (1997, 2001) and won an individual gold medal at the 1998 Chess Olympiad.
His first international success came in 1977 at the World Junior Chess Championship in Innsbruck, where he finished 4th. He has won or shared first place in several other tournaments, including Havana (1980), Varna (1986), León (1996), and San Sebastián (2007).
Vera has represented Cuba in many team events, including the Chess Olympiads, the World Team Chess Championships, and four Pan American Team Chess Championships, as well as the World Youth U26 Team Championship. Since 2007 he has been listed as a FIDE Senior Trainer.
