Piet A. Verheyen
Piet A. Verheyen (Petrus Antonius Verheyen) was a Dutch economist and professor at Tilburg University. He was born on 14 November 1931 in Alphen, North Brabant. He earned his PhD at Tilburg University in 1962 with a thesis on economy and technology, the growth factor, and capital return, supervised by Dirk B.J. Schouten. In 1963 he became Professor of Economics at Tilburg. He was interested in using computers in business and co-wrote the 1968 book Computer en onderneming with Max Euwe and Jan Willem van Belkum. His doctoral students included Wim van Hulst, Theo Bemelmans, and Arnoud Boot. Verheyen served as dean of the Tilburg School of Economics and was a member (twice) and president of Tilburg University. He retired in 1989. He died in Tilburg on 2 June 2021 at the age of 89. He was awarded the Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion.
