Mahatsara, also known as Mahatsara Est, is a village and commune in the Atsinanana Region of Madagascar, within the Vohibinany (Brickaville) district. The commune covers about 525 square kilometers and sits about 10 meters above sea level. The RN 2 highway crosses the commune at Antsampanana. It lies near the coast and near the mouth of the Laroka River, just before it flows into the Rianila River. The population was about 2,500 in 2015. The postal code is 508, and the local time zone is East Africa Time (UTC+3). Coordinates: 18°57′S, 49°01′E.
