Real Sociedad C
Real Sociedad C is the third team of Real Sociedad, the Basque football club from San Sebastián, Spain. It serves as a development side for young players coming through the club’s academy.
History and identity
- Founded in 1998 as CD Berio FT. In 2016, the team was integrated into Real Sociedad and became the club’s second reserve squad.
- They train at the Zubieta Facilities in San Sebastián and wear Real Sociedad’s blue-and-white colors.
- Real Sociedad C is one of the club’s youth-to-pro development teams. Players who do well can move up to Real Sociedad B (the Sanse team) after one or two seasons. The C team does not compete in the Copa del Rey.
What they do
- The squad is made up mainly of graduates from Real Sociedad’s academy, typically aged 17 to 20.
- The purpose is to give young players experience and a pathway toward the first team.
Competition level
- Over the years, Real Sociedad C has spent most of its time in Spain’s lower leagues. After a restructuring of the Spanish football divisions, they have competed in the lower tiers, most recently in the Segunda Federación (the fourth level), in Group 2, following promotion and a series of league changes.
- Like other reserve teams, Real Sociedad C must stay at least one division below Real Sociedad B and cannot enter the Copa del Rey.
Current squad (overview)
- The team is predominantly made up of Real Sociedad academy players. They are young talents looking to develop and move up to higher levels within the club.
