Antonio Anastasio Rossi
Antonio Anastasio Rossi (July 18, 1864 – March 29, 1948) was an Italian Roman Catholic church leader. He served as Archbishop of Udine from 1910 to 1927. On December 19, 1927, he was named Prelate of Pompeii and Latin Patriarch of Constantinople, titles he held until his death in 1948. As head of Pompeii, he expanded the Shrine of the Virgin of the Rosary of Pompeii to welcome more pilgrims and broadened its help for the poor and orphans. He was the last Latin Patriarch of Constantinople; the title was abolished in 1964. Rossi died in Pompeii at age 83 and is buried in the Shrine’s crypt.
