Re-Pa
Re-Pa, also known as the Clássico Rei da Amazônia (Amazon King derby), is the Brazilian football rivalry between Remo and Paysandu from Belém, Pará. It is the biggest derby in Pará and in Brazil’s North Region, and one of the fiercest in the country. The two clubs have played about 780 matches, making it the most-played derby in the world.
Stadiums and location
- Remo plays at Baenão; Paysandu plays at Estádio da Curuzu; Mangueirão is a common neutral venue.
- The two home stadiums are about 200 meters apart, the second-shortest distance between rivals’ stadiums in the world (behind Dundee, Scotland).
Cultural significance
- On May 4, 2016, the derby was declared intangible cultural heritage of the State of Pará, recognized as a cultural expression of the people of Pará.
History and records
- The first meeting was on June 14, 1914, with Remo winning 2–1.
- The rivalry began after a 1915 exchange of letters that ended the clubs’ friendly relations and started one of Brazilian football’s fiercest rivalries.
- All-time results: Remo 270 wins, 265 draws, Paysandu 245 wins (total matches around 780).

- Top scorer: Hélio with 47 goals.
- Largest victory: Paysandu 7–0 Remo in the 1945 Campeonato Paraense (July 22, 1945).
