Miané Smit
Miané Smit is a South African cricketer who was born on February 2, 2005, in Bloemfontein. She is an all‑rounder who bats right‑handed and bowls right‑arm off spin. She plays for Free State in domestic cricket since 2018/19.
Her first domestic List A match for Free State came on March 29, 2019, in the CSA Women's Provincial League final against Northerns. Her Twenty20 debut followed on October 27, 2019, against KwaZulu-Natal Coastal in the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition.
In December 2022, Smit was chosen for South Africa’s Under‑19 squad for the 2023 ICC Under‑19 Women's T20 World Cup. She played four matches, taking seven wickets with an average of 8.42, including a best of 4/11 against UAE.
She has also been part of South Africa’s broader squads in recent years, including the Emerging team for matches against New Zealand in 2023 and for the African Games in 2023. In September 2024, she was named a travelling reserve for the South Africa women’s team at the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Smit earned her first call‑ups to the senior national team in April 2025, when she was named in South Africa’s ODI squad for the Tri‑Nations Series against Sri Lanka and India. In May 2025 she was named in both the ODI and T20I squads for the series against the West Indies.
She made her ODI debut on May 7, 2025, against India (shirt number 43) and played her last ODI on May 9, 2025, versus Sri Lanka. Her T20I debut came on June 20, 2025, against the West Indies, with her latest T20I on June 23, 2025, also against the West Indies, wearing shirt number 43.
