Qipengyuania citrea is a Gram-negative, strictly aerobic, rod-shaped and non-motile bacterium. It belongs to the genus Qipengyuania, in the family Erythrobacteraceae, order Sphingomonadales, class Alphaproteobacteria, phylum Pseudomonadota, and domain Bacteria. Its binomial name is Qipengyuania citrea, with type strains including CIP 107092, DSM 14432, IAM 15372, JCM 21816, KCTC 12214, and RE35F. It was previously known as Erythrobacter citreus (Denner et al. 2002). This species was isolated from the Bay of Calvi in the Mediterranean Sea near Corsica.
