Rainbow Islands Revolution is a Nintendo DS platform game released in 2005. It’s an updated version of Rainbow Islands and is known in Japan as New Rainbow Islands. You control Bub, who rides in a bubble, using the DS stylus to move him and to draw rainbows on the touch screen.

Rainbows act as barriers that enemies can’t cross. If you draw a rainbow over an enemy, you defeat it, and tapping a rainbow makes it fall, removing any foes beneath it. You guide Bub by dragging him with the stylus, and you lose a life if Bub touches enemies or hazards like spikes. When all hearts are gone, you must start the level over.

You can also create special rainbow shapes that produce extra effects. The game is played in a single-player mode. It received mixed reviews, with Famitsu giving it 26 out of 40. Metacritic and other sources reflected similar mixed opinions.
