Weekends Away is the debut EP by Seattle indie pop band Math and Physics Club, released in February 2005 on Matinée Recordings. The four-song demo that first got them attention had nearly the same track order as the EP, but replaced “Love, Again” with “Nothing Really Happened.” The demo version of “Nothing Really Happened” appeared on the Strength in Numbers compilation in mid-2005, and it was re-recorded in 2007 for their third EP, Baby I’m Yours. “Love, Again” was recorded after the first demo sessions and added to the EP before its release. The track “Sixteen and Pretty” received airplay and helped them play the 2005 Sasquatch Festival. Critics praised the EP, with Pitchfork noting literate lyrics and catchy melodies, KEXP calling it “utterly charming,” and AllMusic calling it a strong four-track gem with tender emotion and easygoing charm.
