R.I.P.D. The Game is a cooperative third-person shooter based on the 2013 film. Developed by Old School Games and published by Atlus USA, it released on July 17, 2013 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows. Players choose to play as Roy Pulsipher or Nick Walker and fight back against “deadoes,” renegade ghosts, in online co-op play. The game opens with a comic-style setup that ties into the movie, then drops players into a tutorial and starts the action.

Gameplay centers on seven missions, each with multiple maps and five rounds of wave-based combat that grow tougher over time. You earn in-game currency to buy and upgrade weapons, ranging from standard shotguns and rifles to quirky movie references like a banana or a hairdryer. Some enemies can be arrested by standing near them for a set time. After completing each round and the waves, you collect bounties, face optional challenges, and can bet in-game currency on who will score the most points.

R.I.P.D. The Game received negative reviews, averaging around 40%. Critics said it lacked a strong story and felt repetitive, essentially a less polished reuse of Old School Games’ prior title, God Mode. It was criticized for offering only two-player co-op (instead of four), slower movement, clunky shooting, fewer weapons, and a weak connection to the film (few or no cutscenes and no voice acting by the movie’s stars). The AI was called dull, and the game was described as an arena shooter rather than a story-driven experience. Technical issues included poor matchmaking and stiff controls with input lag, making solo play almost impossible.
