Joana Brito Vitelli (25 April 1947 – 27 June 2023) was a Mexican actress whose career lasted more than fifty years. She was born in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, and studied theater and stage direction at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura in Mexico City.

She began in theater in the 1960s and later spent many years at Televisa, appearing in numerous telenovelas and TV shows. Some of her notable TV credits include Juana Iris (1985), Cuna de Lobos (1980s), Mujer, Casos de la Vida Real, Pueblo chico, infierno grande (1997), Cómplices Al Rescate (2002), Teresa, La rosa de Guadalupe, Corazón salvaje, La fuerza del destino, and El Bienamado, which was one of her final TV appearances. She retired from acting in 2016 due to health reasons and moved to Monterrey, Nuevo León.

Brito was also a prolific voiceover and dubbing artist starting in the 1980s. She was one of Mexico’s most requested voice actresses, providing Spanish voices for many characters, including Yubaba in Spirited Away, Morgana in The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, Mama Odi in The Princess and the Frog, and Miss Muriel P. Finster in Recess. She also dubbed characters in Naruto (Koharu Utatane) and Dragon Ball Z (Kaiō-sama), and she voiced Judi Dench in several films for the Mexican market. Her other dubbing work included roles in Charlotte’s Web, Marie Antoinette, Hairspray, Hugo, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, and Deadpool.

Brito’s first film appearance came in 1996 with El anzuelo. Her other films include Santo Luzbel (1997), Cicatrices (2005), From Prada to Nada (2011), and El gran milagro (2011). She passed away from kidney failure in Monterrey on 27 June 2023, at the age of 76. The death was announced by the National Association of Actors (ANDA).
