Qiao Qiao, born around 1980, is a Chinese singer and the first openly lesbian artist in China. In 2006 she released her first single, Ai Bu Fen (Love Does Not Discriminate). The video for the song shows two ballerinas in love, but social norms prevented them from kissing. The government did not try to suppress the song. In 2000 she opened Maple Bar in Beijing, the first lesbian bar in China. She was the first guest on Tong Xing Xiang Lian (Gay Connections), a one-hour video webcast that began in 2007 on PhoenixTV.com.
