Eero Huovinen
Eero Huovinen (born 27 October 1944 in Helsinki) is a Finnish Lutheran bishop who served as the Bishop of Helsinki from 1991 to 2010. He is the son of Rev. Dr Lauri Huovinen (1915–1994), who was the Dean of Turku Cathedral. Huovinen studied at the University of Helsinki, earning a Master of Theology in 1970, a Licentiate of Theology in 1976, and a PhD in 1978. He was ordained as a priest in 1970. From 1970 to 1991 he held various positions at the University of Helsinki Faculty of Theology, including Professor of Dogmatics and Dean of the Faculty. He was appointed Bishop of Helsinki on 1 March 1991 and retired in 2010.
