The 2007 Katsina State gubernatorial election was held on 14 April 2007. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Ibrahim Shema, with running mate Surajo Umar Damari, won the election, defeating Abu Ibrahim of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and other candidates. Shema received 1,185,489 votes, while Abu Ibrahim secured 218,302 votes. The election followed the tenure of PDP governor Umaru Musa Yar'Adua. Ibrahim Shema became the governor of Katsina State, and there were 2,589,047 registered voters in the state.
