Pui Pui Molcar is a cute Japanese stop‑motion cartoon about guinea pig cars. In this world, people drive furry Molcars—vehicles that are also adorable guinea pigs. Most episodes have no dialogue and are told mostly with squeaks, music, and simple actions.

The show is made by Shin-Ei Animation and Japan Green Hearts with Bandai Namco Entertainment. The first season, directed and written by Tomoki Misato, aired on TV Tokyo as part of Kinder TV starting January 5, 2021. It has 24 short episodes. A second season, Pui Pui Molcar Driving School, aired from October to December 2022, directed by Hana Ono, with UchuPeople as the main animation studio.

Outside Japan, Netflix started streaming the series in North America and other select regions on March 25, 2021, and Muse Communication licensed it for South and Southeast Asia. Bandai Namco Entertainment released the first season on DVD and Blu-ray on July 28, 2021.

Films and releases: A compilation film, Tobidase! Narase! Pui Pui Molcar, opened in theaters on July 22, 2021. A 3DCG feature, Pui Pui Molcar The Movie MOLMAX, was announced in January 2024 and released on November 29, 2024.

Premise details: The show features five named Molcars and many unnamed ones that serve roles like ambulances, police cars, and food stands. Some episodes include live-action moments, while most scenes use felt-made characters and other handmade textures. The stories are light, funny, and sometimes parody different movie genres.

Reception and impact: Pui Pui Molcar is loved for its simple, playful storytelling and appealing design. It has been praised for animation quality and its educational feel, since it tells stories without heavy dialogue. The series inspired fan art and various merchandise, including plush toys, a Potato Nendoroid, a Tamagotchi collaboration, and a Nintendo Switch party game.
