Pretty Rock National Wildlife Refuge
Pretty Rock National Wildlife Refuge is an 800-acre protected area in Grant County, North Dakota. It is an easement refuge on privately owned land, with landowners and the U.S. government working together to protect wildlife. The refuge is designated as IUCN category IV (habitat/species management area) and is overseen by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from Audubon National Wildlife Refuge. It sits about 10 miles south of New Leipzig, North Dakota. The site has served as a resting place for migrating whooping cranes; in 2002, six adult cranes and one juvenile were seen there.
