Courtney Simon, born June 23, 1946, is an American writer and actress. She is sometimes credited as Courtney Sherman or Courtney Sherman Simon. She created the role of Kathy Phillips on the soap opera Search for Tomorrow. She has acted on Guiding Light (Dinah Buckley), All My Children, Another World, and is best known on As the World Turns as Dr. Lynn Michaels. She began writing for soaps while still acting on Search for Tomorrow and has worked as a breakdown script writer for many years. She has written for shows including All My Children, Another World, As the World Turns, General Hospital, Guiding Light, Loving, Santa Barbara, and Search for Tomorrow. She has won and been nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards and Writers Guild of America Awards. Her first marriage was to Ed Easton, which ended in divorce. She married actor Peter Simon in 1975; they have five children, including Kate Hall, who is also a daytime soap writer.
