Porochilus is a genus of eeltail catfishes native to Australia and New Guinea. Four species are recognized in this group. Porochilus meraukensis grows up to about 24 cm in length and lives in quiet backwaters and well-vegetated lagoons and lakes. Porochilus obbesi reaches about 12 cm and is found in slow-moving streams, backwaters, swamps and lily lagoons, usually among aquatic weeds such as eelgrass; it is also found in lakes. Porochilus obbesi feeds on insects, prawns and mollusks.
